Description
Single-stroke English or Single stroke English is the English alfabet simplified to single strokes. This may be shortened, for convenience of speech, to "Single English" given the abbreviation: SE.
Single-stroke English (SE) is based on a rational system of one speech sound, one letter. This greatly simplifies English spelling. No spelling rules are perfectly rational. Indeed, the SE system economises on the number of letters to its simplified alfabet.
People do not like having to learn long alfabets. And there really is no need, for the function of translating English speech to writing. About the thirty most important speech sounds or fonemes (phonemes) each need a distinct letter to be clearly translated into text. Extra letters, for more refined distinctions of speech, become pedantic,
rather than functional.
On the cover of this booklet, or summary edition, of Single-stroke English, is a nonsense sentence, consisting of virtually all the essential fonemes of English speech.
This short edition avoids information over-load, by cutting out all the clutter of supporting details, and getting down to the essentials.
Single stroke English is based on a simplified version of the letters of the alfabet. I developed a simplified English
alfabet short-hand, because I found, from long experience, that preserving a resemblance to the traditional alfabet was the only way to invent a memorable short-hand.
This is a public interest issue, that may benefit anyone and everyone.
